We are pleased to announce that Sarah Friend, president of TPG, was welcomed to the Board of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (The Council) for the coming year. CIAB is the premier association for the leading commercial insurance and employee benefits intermediaries around the world. Its membership annually places 90% of US property/casualty insurance premiums and are the broker of record and/or consulting on two-thirds of all employer-sponsored health plans across the nation. CIAB’s membership comprises the fastest growing, most innovative firms in the industry, with 33 of its firms headquartered internationally.

“Less than 10% of members of Congress have experience in the insurance industry,” says Friend. “Our industry is complex and the decisions of legislators have a direct impact on businesses and individuals. The Council plays an essential role as we represent the voice of our customers and advocate for meaningful changes to lower the cost of insurance and increase access for businesses and individuals. It is an honor to work with The Council to make a positive impact for our commercial insurance, personal lines, and employee benefit clients.”

Along with Friend, The Council Board includes two fellow C2 Solutions colleagues – Tom Stewart of Holmes Murphy and Mike Victorson of M3 Insurance. The Partners Group is a founder and equal owner of C2, a consortium of regionally dominant independent consulting firms located throughout the country that collectively manages more than $10 billion in premium.

Newly elected incoming CIAB Board Chair Andy Barrengos says, “The Council’s support is critical in an environment where clients’ risks and opportunities are evolving rapidly. Leveraging the collective power and knowledge of its members, The Council prioritizes the most pressing issues for our firms, amplifying our voice on Capitol Hill and delivering brokerage-specific trainings, development programs, and forums. I’m honored to work with a Board who are deeply committed to the value of our community, and who reflect the best of the talent, commitment, and grit across our industry.”

Stay tuned for more news in the coming year about the CIAB Board and TPG’s involvement.
