Remember how the first week of September in the Pacific Northwest was hot? As in, stay-indoors and stay-cool hot? Hot enough to pop the corn in cornhole bags?

Conditions were, well . . . not ideal to hold an outdoor cornhole tournament. So, instead of hosting the 3rd Annual TPG Throwdown: Cornhole for a Cause at our usual outdoor venue, TPG Foundation Executive Director Emily-Rose Galati had to pivot. Quickly, within days.

“When we heard about the approaching heat wave, we knew we had to move venues,” she said. “There was no other option – but we were able to find a great indoor space where we hosted an epic warehouse party!”

And so, the show went on! Our new, indoor event space was filled with a lively spirit of get-it-done teamwork, along with DJ’ed music, a silent auction, TPG balloons, and complimentary drinks and food (including an ice cream truck!). And there was cornhole. Lots and lots of cornhole. It all worked out great, thanks to Emily-Rose and a team of volunteers.

The goal for this year’s TPG Throwdown was to raise funds for Kinship House and CASA for Children Clackamas County. Both local nonprofts focus on children in need – giving kids a voice, support, and steady compassion. Thanks to all who donated, we were able to raise a total of $123,860! These funds, split between Kinship House and CASA, will aid in making significant changes for the kids the organizations serve.

And to all who set up the boards, sponsored the day, tossed the bags, poured the beer, took the photos, and much, much more: This event truly embodies TPG’s core values. We own it. We are curious. We play well with others (even our most fearsome cornhole competitors). We have fun and live well. And we are champions – we’re looking at you, tourney winners. Nice work, all around.
