According to our friends at CRC Group who recently put together this document compiling natural catastrophe loss activity over the last five years, “The U.S. has sustained 86 weather and climate disasters since 2017 in which overall damages/costs reached or exceeded $1 billion. … The total cost of these 86 events exceeds $678 billion.” This document is based on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data, and the subsequent years are trended for inflation.
